Founded in 2012 by six Rwandan artists, Inema is both a gallery and a working studio for about ten artists-in-residence. Beyond the exhibitions, it runs a full weekly program: contemporary dance sessions three nights a week, Wednesday yoga, and a Thursday happy hour with live music that pulls in locals and travelers who'd rather talk about the work on the walls than what's in their glass.
Traded my Friday bar nights for Thursday happy hour here and don't miss a thing. The live painting sessions are hypnotic and everyone's genuinely there for the art.
